Nach einer viertaegigen Fahrt mit einer schoenen alten Eisenbahn kamen wir in Irkutsk in der Naehe des Baikal Sees an...aber der Weg ist das Ziel. Und das haben sich Thomas und unsere zwei deutschen Begleiter wirklich zu Herzen genommen.
Ausgestattet mit einem Km- Plan der gesamten (!) Transsib Strecke wurde ich nicht nur vom linken zum rechten Fenster gescheucht: "Bei Kilometer 2300 kommen ganz tolle bunte Holzhaeuser!" nein, ich musste auch nachts um 1:00 nach einem Grenzstein Ausschau halten, der die Grenze von Europa und Asien markiert und mir um 24:00 auch mal den Bahnhof von Novosibirsk anschauen. "Antje, das ist der schoenste Bahnhof Sibiriens!".
Nach 4 Tagen voller Action kamen wir dann also nach Irkutsk, wo es viele weitere interessante Geschichten zu Berichten gibt...eine davon handelt von unserer schlechten russischen Betonung und die andere von einer einsamen Insel im See auf der es erst seit einem Jahr Strom gibt...aber dazu moechte Thomas bestimmt etwas schreiben, denn er hat Olchon und seine Partnerstadt schnell ins Herz geschlossen!

After four days in an old Russian train we arrived in Irkutsk near the Baikal lake...but as we all know the way of getting somewhere is more important than the actual destination.
Thomas and our new German train- friends took this quite seriously...they actually had the complete timetable of the train and so i ended up running from one side of the train to the other just because there were " beautiful painted houses on km 2300!". Moreover i was looking for a big white stone which is a landmark for the border of Europe and Asia at 1:00 at night and of course I had to get off the train at 24:00 because "Novosibirks has the most beautiful trainstation in Siberia!".
So, after four days full of action and excitement we arrived in Irkutsk where we had a lot of other adventures...also due to our bad russian pronounciation....nevertheless we had a great time on an island in the lake and I think Thomas will be writing more about Olchon and another great place in the mountains!
